1. Something new in the world |
Ever since I was a child, Ifve always chased my dream of wanting to make something new in the world. I wrote in my notebook gOnce believe in something heartily, never give up on it.h
I came across my original suspension idea in high school years, but I had to gain many technical knowledge and practice to make it practical use. 17 years ago, I filed the patent for the basic technology of new suspension system in Japan. I also filed the patent of Yoshioka Suspension in 7 countries including USA and Europe.

2. Isolating a shock and vibration |
My idea turned into reality 15 years ago. However I did not know how to introduce my suspension to the world market. My suspension is totally different from the existing common sense of suspension.
The wheel in the existing suspension moves up and down to isolate a shock and vibration. My idea is to isolate a shock and vibration by a movement of wheel in the longitudinal direction.
I applied my technology to a competitive bicycle g Road Racer g. My product is a super light suspension fork which is made of carbon fiber and aluminum alloy. I named it gAero Swing g.

3. My technical story |
When a bicycle rider tries to increase a speed, a rider stands up and makes a pressure against his bicycle with conventional suspension. This pressure reflects to a bicycle and an additional up and down movement. This is minus to save energy.
The wheel in my suspension does not move up and down. The pressure from a rider does not transfer to a bicycle. This feature makes less energy loss rather than a existing suspension. Then the racers who use my suspension save energy than other racers. They might win the race. This is my technical story.

4. The Race Across AMERICA |
The Race Across AMERICA is seen as the most toughest bicycle race in the world. The riders started Irvine, California and run across USA in 1997. The winner was the rider who reached Savannah, Georgia, first. Racers could rest and sleep whenever they want to. In this race, riderfs physical and mental strength is an important factor. However the performance of the bicycle is also important to win the race. The bicycle using my suspension participated in this race. 5 racers who used my suspension won from 1st place to 3rd place in menfs race and 1st and 2nd in the women race.
.I was very glad that racers used my suspension and finished the race with good results. My suspension won the g 1997 Race Across America g.

5. My SAE technical paper history |
My SAE technical paper history is as follows;
Oct. 1993; Membership to SAE approved, My membership number is 4834331491
|
Aug. 1992, The first presentation at SAE, Costa Mesa, USA :SAE Technical@Paper 921592, 921593 |
| g In an effort to propose a shock isolator based on a new principle, the author have formulated an idea of isolating shock by transforming rectilinear motion into circular motion. We call it a swinging unit. According to its principle, it is a shock isolator, not absorber. g
g We prepared a new bumper system composed of the swinging unit and two oil cylinders. An experimental vehicle model was made and the new bumper system was installed in it. The experimental results show that new system is effective in reducing shock in the frontal collision. g |
Mar. 1993:
The second presentation at SAE, Detroit, USA :SAE@Technical@Paper 930225 |
| g This paper is a study on the suspension characteristics of the isolator. We performed an experiment on a motorcycle which verified that the suspension characteristics were improved. g |
Aug. 1993:
The third presentation at SAE, San Antonio, USA :SAE@Technical@Paper 930225 |
| g To reduce the shock and improve the safety when a motorcycle has a front collision, the author has created a new suspension system using a crank element and have demonstrated its usefulness. g |
Aug. 1996:
The fourth presentation at SAE, Vancouver, Canada :SAE@Technical@Paper 961695 |
| g A new suspension system based on the functional movement of the human knee joint has now been developed, utilizing torsion spring as restoring force. This suspension was successfully used in the 1995 Race Across America.h |
Sep. 2001;
The first presentation at 2001 ACE ( Aerospace Congress &
Exhibition ), Seattle, USA: Paper No.2001-01-2962
|
| g This focused on two as-yet-unresolved safety problems of aircraft undercarriages. One is acceleration impact on the wheels; the other is collision with an obstacle on the runway. Application of my principle to aircraft undercarriages overcomes the limitations of current technology. |
Sep. 2003:
The second presentation at 2003 ACE ( Aerospace Congress &
Exhibition ), Montreal, Canada: Paper No.2003-01-3048
|
| g The moment at which a wheel of a landing aircraft touches the runway, the tire begin to smoke. Our new undercarriage reduces the sliding friction work on the tire by a maximum of about 47.4% in the computer simulation. |
Oct. 2005:
The third presentation at 2005 Aero Tech Congress & Exhibition, Texas, USA: Paper No.2005-01-3416 |
| gTo determine vibration characteristics of the new strut, we also conducted tests of frequency response when taxiing along the runway. Test results showed that performance of the new type of suspension is determined by oscillation mode and natural frequency.h |
